Over its long history, it has undergone many changes: from a customs service, a telegraph, a gunpowder warehouse to the function of a lighthouse, and now a museum is located within its walls. The fortress consists of two main parts: a five-story tower with images of St. Michael and St. Vincent, and a hexagonal bastion with 17 cannons. The architecture of the building harmoniously combines elements of Gothic and Moorish styles. Particularly worth highlighting are the stone sculptures, the ground floor terrace and the upper gallery, which offer impressive views of the Tagus River.
Castle of St. George

At first glance, the facade may seem modest, but upon entering the courtyard, an amazing picture opens up - a patio decorated in a Moorish style. Beautiful arches, colorful tiles, majestic columns, cozy balconies and tropical plants create a magnificent atmosphere. One part of the building is occupied by the office of an organization that organizes literary evenings, exhibitions and other events. The second part is a restaurant on the top floor and ballrooms with huge paintings.
Elevator Santa-Justa
The Santa Justa Elevator, built in the 19th century under the direction of the Portuguese engineer Raoul du Ponsard, is a historical artifact with neo-Gothic architecture. The view from the upper platform, located at an altitude of 45 meters, amazes with its beauty and panorama of the city. The elevator has two lifts with cabins decorated with wood and mirror panels, each accommodating 19 seated and 10 standing passengers. Especially in the evening, the building is transformed by lighting. The fare is about €5 in both directions, but you can walk to the observation deck for much less.
Edward VII Park
The park, which extends over 25 hectares, is located north of Marqués de Pombal Square. It was named after the English king who visited Portugal a year earlier to strengthen the alliance between the two countries. The park area resembles a quiet green oasis where you can temporarily escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are cozy lawns, picturesque plant labyrinths, fountains and a famous observation deck with a huge flag of Portugal. Next to the greenhouses there is a lake, on the surface of which fish swim. Edward VII Park offers a pleasant break after long walks around the city, especially on a warm and sunny day.
25 April Bridge
One of the key attractions that you can see in Lisbon is the Place 25 Kvitnya. This hanging place connects the downstream bank of the Tagus River with the place of Almada. You often go from the Golden Gate Bridge to San Francisco through the Col. In terms of design, it is practically identical to the Bay Bridge that stands behind the Golden Gate. This is explained by the fact that the device was designed by an American company. On the same bridge support there is an 80-meter view area called Pilar 7. You can climb it using a special elevator. I also ordered the refurbishment of the pier and a number of hangars, refurbished by the restaurant. Only cars and trains are allowed to cross the bridge.
Carmelite Monastery (Convento Do Carmo)
The Carmelite Monastery in Baishi is a place where time stands still and history permeates every stone. This majestic structure was erected by the Portuguese commander and monk of the Carmelite Order, Nuno Alvares Pereira. Despite obstacles such as subsidence of the foundation due to the choice of site on Mount Carmu, the monastery was completed in 1423 in the Gothic style. In 1755, an earthquake struck the structure, destroying parts of it, including the roof, Pereira's buried tomb and the people gathered for the service. A fire later destroyed the library and its 5,000 books. Today, only the walls of the monastery remain, but its amazing beauty and mystical magnetism continue to attract the attention of tourists.
Mafra Palace
One of the most impressive monumental palaces in Europe was built in the Baroque style at the order of King John V of Portugal. It was built near the Lisbon capital and includes a monastery, a basilica, and two palaces. initials and a large library. The oldest and most valuable exhibit in the collection is the carriage of King Philip II of Spain, in which he arrived in Portugal.
