Now in the mountains you can find small settlements of Bedouins living in the Sinai Mountains. As a result of long erosion, the mountains have acquired unusual shapes and silhouettes, which makes mountain routes so popular among tourists staying in numerous hotels on the shores of the Red Sea.

Mount Sinai, also known as Har Sinai in Hebrew, Jebel Musa in Arabic, Mount Horeb or Mount Moses, is a mountain that goes by many different names. It is considered a sacred place for the three largest religions of the world - Judaism, Christianity and Islam. What's on top

Every day, tens or even hundreds of pilgrims climb to the top of the mountain to see these shrines with their own eyes and feel themselves a part of the vast world created by the Almighty.

On the top of the mountain of Moses there are various shrines, including the Temple of the Holy Trinity, the Chapel of the Virgin, the cave where, according to the Bible, Moses stayed for 40 days and nights, as well as the Cave Temple and the well of the Prophet Elijah, the mosque of the Prophet Mohammed. On the walls of the chapel of the Church of the Holy Trinity, frescoes depicting the life of the prophet Moses are painted, as well as a 4th-century mosaic with the Virgin Mary in the center and the prophets Moses and Elijah on both sides have been preserved.

Useful tips and recommendations for tourists

The ascent to Mount Moses begins after midnight and takes about three hours. There are two routes that lead to the top of the mountain.

The "Stairway of Repentance" consists of 3,750 steps and different sections of the path, which can be laid out of boulders or cut into the rock, without a fence. This path was used by monks, and although it is dangerous and difficult, there are people who bravely climb it. On the halfway point, you can see the spring where the prophet watered his herds.
In turn, the "Camel Trail" is about 8 kilometers long and goes around the mountain several times. This road, which was laid by the Egyptians in the 19th century, can also be climbed on a camel.
And finally, the last 750 steps are overcome by the "monk's stairs", where both paths connect.

All along the way you will find benches to rest and tents with food and drinks.

If you plan to climb at any time of the year, it is important to take care of wind protection in advance. Jackets, windbreakers and raincoats with hoods will come in handy during the climb.

For $30-40, tourists can go on a pilgrimage to Mount Moses from Sharm el-Sheikh. During the ascent, the landscape is constantly changing. At first the sky is dark or blue with bright stars. When dawn comes, a bright palette of golden shades begins to play over the mountains.

When the dawn has fully blossomed, it will be clear that all the efforts that have been made to overcome this difficult path have not been in vain. The huge sun begins to rise above the mountains and illuminates the surrounding rocks, slowly descending to the sea and flooding the bay with its light. At the solemn moment of sunrise, all people bow their heads in prayer.

According to tradition, those who climbed Sinai and saw the dawn here, God forgives all their sins, regardless of their faith and language of communication.
