Tours to Montenegro from Kyiv — Last-Minute Deals
Montenegro is a small Adriatic country where the mountains drop straight into the sea: in one week you can laze on the beaches of the Budva Riviera, sail around the Bay of Kotor and drive up to the Tara Canyon. From Kyiv you can travel here in two ways. A coach tour runs without changes, via Lviv, Transcarpathia, Romania and Serbia, and drops passengers off right at the coastal resorts. Flights leave from neighbouring countries: in season, tour operators run charters from Warsaw, Rzeszów and Katowice, plus Chisinau–Tivat. Ukrainians don't need a visa.

Getting to Montenegro: Coach or Plane

From Tivat airport it takes about half an hour to reach Budva and almost two hours to Ulcinj; from Podgorica, the Budva Riviera is about 1 h 10 min away. The coach, by contrast, stops in the resorts themselves: on the Budva route at Petrovac, Sveti Stefan, Rafailovići, Bečići and Budva, on the other at Sutomore, Bar, Dobra Voda and Ulcinj. Getting from the stop to your hotel isn't part of the package: book a transfer (€4–8 per person) or go on your own. Travellers from Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih and Odesa have a separate coach.
The Coach Journey
The coach leaves Kyiv in the evening, passes Zhytomyr and Rivne overnight, collects passengers in Lviv and Stryi in the morning and reaches Transcarpathia by lunchtime. It crosses the border at Diakove, continues through Romania and Serbia, and the group arrives on the coast on the third day. Allow approximately 34–38 hours: border crossings can be busy, and the new EES biometric checks sometimes add a few more hours, so pack water and snacks.
The free allowance is one suitcase or bag up to 25 kg plus a backpack up to 5 kg; a small wheeled case won't be accepted in the cabin and costs extra as additional luggage. Every child needs their own seat, and under-12s may not sit in the front row. The coach costs less than flying and saves you a journey to a foreign airport.

Most beaches are municipal, but sunbeds are not free: two loungers and a parasol on the popular beaches average around €10 a day.
Touring Montenegro: Excursions
The country is compact, and a day is enough to reach almost any corner of it from the coast. Group excursions from the Budva Riviera cost roughly €30–90 per adult, with cheaper tickets for children.
- Bay of Kotor. A boat trip to Kotor and Perast with a stop at the islet of Our Lady of the Rocks.
- Lovćen, Cetinje and Njeguši. Njegoš's mausoleum on the mountaintop, the old royal capital and local pršut ham with cheese.
- Lake Skadar. The Balkans' biggest lake, protected as a national park: the boat glides past water lilies, and Dalmatian pelicans are among the birds.
- Tara Canyon and Durmitor. The Đurđevića Tara Bridge, the Black Lake and gentle rafting that needs no training, though children under five are not taken.
- Ostrog. A 17th-century monastery built into a cliff at about 840 m, the country's main shrine.
- Dubrovnik. A day trip to the UNESCO-listed Croatian city; it's in Schengen, so you'll need a biometric passport.

Weather and Season in Montenegro
- May. Daytime highs of +22…+23 °C, sea temperature +18…+19 °C: brisk for swimming, ideal for sightseeing.
- June. Around +26 °C, the water warming to +22 °C, and still few tourists.
- July and August. High summer: an average of +27 °C and above, the sea about +25 °C, and accommodation at its priciest.
- September. Warm water and far roomier beaches make it a favourite late-summer month.
- October and winter. The swimming season lasts longest in Ulcinj; winter on the coast averages about +12 °C, and the ski resorts of Kolašin and Žabljak open in the mountains.
Prices and Accommodation
What a tour to Montenegro for two costs depends mostly on how you travel, the resort and the month. The budget option is the coach plus a villa or apartment; the priciest are beachfront hotels in Bečići, Budva and near Sveti Stefan in July and August. Villas typically serve breakfast only or breakfast and dinner. Remember the tourist tax of roughly €1–1.5 per adult per night, less for children: some hotels include it in the tour price, others collect it at reception.
Documents and Border
- Visa-free. Holders of biometric passports can remain in Montenegro for 90 days without a visa.
- Passport validity. At least three months must remain after you return home; passports whose validity has been extended won't do and must be replaced.
- Registration within 24 hours of arrival: hotels handle it, and in apartments the hosts do.
- Coach transit. Passengers are registered in EES at the Romanian border, after which the route leaves Schengen for Serbia.
- Children and leaving Ukraine. A child needs a birth certificate; before you book, confirm how children and men of conscription age can currently leave Ukraine.
