Things to Do on the Island
- Cape Greco and underwater parks. Two underwater parks near Ayia Napa are set up for snorkelling and diving, and the cape looks out over cliffs and grottoes.

- Visa-free. A biometric passport allows up to 90 days within six months, counted separately from Schengen trips because the island is outside that zone.
- Passport validity. It must remain valid half a year beyond your departure from Cyprus.
- Old passports. Holders of a non-biometric passport need an electronic "pro-visa", issued free of charge on the Cyprus embassy website.
- EES. You register when entering Poland or Romania; flights from Chisinau skip it, and in Cyprus your passport simply gets a stamp.
- Pets. A microchip, rabies vaccination and a European-style pet passport are required.
- Leaving Ukraine. Who may cross the border under martial law, men and minors in particular, keeps changing, so check the latest version before you book.
Practical Tips
Greek is the official language, but English is understood almost everywhere. The currency is the euro, and cards are accepted in hotels, restaurants and larger shops. Power outlets take British plugs: bring an adapter, although many hotels lend one against a deposit of about €5. Healthcare is paid for, so insurance is a must, and the safest hours for sunbathing are before 10:00 and after 16:00. Be sure to try halloumi, kleftiko, stifado and meze, a spread of twenty to thirty small dishes for two or more, and for something stronger, grape-based zivania.
