Kemer lies where the Taurus range meets the sea, 60 minutes or so from Antalya airport: pebble beaches, clear water and pine forests that run almost down to the sea. With no flights from Kyiv for now, travellers from the capital get here in one of three ways: by train to Chisinau and then a two-hour charter, via Polish airports, or on a coach tour with no flight at all.

The coach leaves Kyiv, picks up passengers from other cities on the way and drops them at stops along the coast, where a transfer takes them to their hotels. Nearly two days on the road is too much for many children, so flying is easier with little ones. Things to Do in Kemer
- Diving. Kemer is one of the coast's main diving centres: people dive around the Three Islands near Tekirova, where a marine reserve has been set up, and down to the wreck of the French ship Paris II. Beginners can try a trial dive with an instructor.
- Boat trips. Every morning, day-trip boats sail from the marina and stop for swims at beaches you can only reach by sea.
- Mountains. A cable car climbs to the summit of Tahtalı (2,365 m), jeeps take you along hairpin roads to Taurus villages, and stretches of the Lycian Way near Tekirova and Çıralı make good one-day treks.
- Antiquity. The ruins of Phaselis, with colonnades and harbours, stand among pines at the water's edge, and near Olympos the flames of the Chimaera burn all year from cracks in the rock.
- For children. Dinopark in Göynük with moving dinosaur figures, water parks at the hotels and the town's Moonlight Park with its beach.
- Trout in the mountains. In the village of Ulupınar, restaurant tables stand right over the stream, and the trout are farmed on the spot.
When to Go to Kemer
- May – June. The sea warms from +21 to +24 °C, the mountains are still green and prices are below peak level. Coach tours start running in May.
- July – August. Sea temperatures climb to +28 °C and daytime air tops +33 °C, though in the evening cool air drifts down from the mountains.
- September – October. The velvet season: the sea is around +25…+27 °C, there are fewer tourists and hiking is comfortable.
- November – April. Too cold for swimming and some hotels close, but this is the best time for trekking and sightseeing.

Flying out of Chisinau, a couple's all-inclusive week in Kemer costs roughly UAH 23,700 and up, making it one of the better-value options along the Turkish Riviera. Coach tours to the coast are cheaper still: from UAH 15,400 for two. Simpler hotels are mostly in Kemer town and Beldibi, while large five-star resorts with slides and pools are in Kiriş, Çamyuva and Tekirova. - Passport. Turkey wants it to remain valid for half a year past your arrival date. Travelling via Poland or by coach through EU countries is possible only with a biometric passport.
- EES. Coach passengers are entered into EES, the EU's new border database, at the Romanian border; air travellers at the Polish one. There is no such registration in Moldova.
- Visa. Turkey does not require one, and days spent there do not count towards the Schengen total: only transit through the EU does.
- Exit rules. Since martial-law regulations keep changing, ask before booking whether male family members are allowed to cross the border and which documents your children need.
